Manchester United head coach

United's manager - here being consoled post May's European final loss - says he is pleased by the co-owner's long-term backing but underscored that what lies ahead is unknown in soccer.

The Red Devils' boss the Portuguese coach feels it's significant the co-owner publicly shared his extended perspective - but states nothing is guaranteed about the next day in soccer, let alone three years.

Through a conversation with The Times in recent days, the co-owner mentioned it may need the head coach three seasons to produce meaningful results at United's home ground.

Arriving during a time when Amorim's future has been receiving close inspection after a prolonged run of poor performances, the statements assisted in calming some of the immediate pressure.

However, talking ahead of the 100th meeting with historic adversaries the Reds at Anfield, Amorim underscored that the future is hard to predict in the beautiful game.

"It's certainly beneficial to receive that message but he informs me all the time, periodically with words after games - but understand, I realize and the co-owner recognizes, that the sport isn't that predictable," he stated.

"The vital factor is the next game. Regardless of investors, you cannot control the future in the sport."

CEO the club executive has admitted it has taken much more time for the head coach to acclimate to the Premier League subsequent to his appointment from Sporting in November than anybody anticipated.

The Red Devils have secured 10 successes in 34 Premier League matches under the 40-year-old. They are yet to win two league games in a row and haven't finished a fixture schedule this season better than ninth place.

The dire statistics are testing faith in the manager among the Old Trafford faithful approaching a run of games their club has been awful in for the last couple of years.

The manager stated he does not feel the instability internally at the club's Carrington training ground and is adamant nothing equals the pressure he places on his players - and in certain ways, he would prefer Sir Jim to avoid attempting to bring a sense of calm because he worries the effect it might produce on the team.

"It's not only a thing that people talk about, I sense it daily," he said. "It's certainly beneficial to receive it because it assists our supporters to grasp the management know it is going to take a period.

"But at the same moment, I'm not fond of it because it gives a feeling that we possess time to work things out. I don't want that feeling in our organization.

"The pressure I apply to the players or upon myself is so much bigger [compared to external sources]. In football, specifically at large organizations, you need to prove yourself each weekend."
