The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest action-packed instalment that players explored was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for celebrating action and madness with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two visionaries whose projects have embodied all of those elements.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game series, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by having a different location and group of personalities in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team always encourages me with their constant belief and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a take of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the essence of society through this intricate and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and bring our mutual irreverent, visionary sensibility to the screen.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
